Grooming competitions are a fantastic way for pet stylists to showcase the talents they have spent years perfecting. Competitions focus on lots of different aspects of techniques, skills, and handling — not just the final result of the groom.
Groomers will only use dogs who are comfortable with grooming and relaxed on the table; these pups love to strut their stuff and get all the attention they can!
The majority of competition classes are for purebred dogs, judged on how closely the styling matches the breed standard. Other classes — salon freestyle, Asian Fusion, creative and model dog — are for mixed breeds (or purebreds in different breed clips) and give groomers free choice of the style that suits their pup best.
